131st death anniv of poet Pagla Kanai observed

131st death anniversary of self learned poet Kanai, better known as Paglakanai, was observed in Jhenaidah. Paglakanai Srity Sangrakkan Sangshad organized the day long programme at the birth place of the poet at Berebari village of Jhenidah Sadar upazila on Sunday. 

Jhenidah Sadar upazila parishad arranged competition of the children on drawing, recitation, book reading and recitation marking the day. 

Jhenidah Sadar upazila parishad chairman, also the main patronizer of Paglakanai Srity Sangrakkan Sangshad Advocate Abdur Rashid, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Badruddoza Subho, Paglakanai union parishad chairman Nazrul Islam among others spoke during the inaugural session of the death anniversary. 

The guests placed floral wreaths at the majar (grave yard) of the poet in the morning. A number of singers, as well as fans Paglakanai were also present for eternal peace of the departed soul. 

The speakers in their speech said a few thousand item of song composed by the natural bird Kanai including Dhua, Jari, Sari etc. are sung by the fans and followers of the poet throughout the country and West Bengal of neighboring India. The sons were composed by the cowboy poet stating the mysterious activities of the creator of the world “Almighty Allah”. 

The songs of the illustrated poem have been inspiring the peace loving-people as the human being are the most important issue to the Almighty, they said.
