At least 13 people were killed in two separate road accidents in Chuadanga and Mymensingh districts on Saturday.
Six people were killed and 10 others injured as a speedy bus hit two human haulers and a motorcycle on Chuadanga-Jhenidah road in Sorojganj bazar area in Sadar upazila of Chuadanga.
The deceased were identified as Soshthi, 40, son of Nitai Hawlader of Badu Bhandardoh village, Molin Ali, 40, son of Mahatab Uddin of Kharaghoda village, Raju, 38, son of Niyat Ali of Tatidah village, Sharif Hossain, 45, son of Rahim Mallick, Sohag, 25, son of Nuta Mandal and Kalu, son of Haidar Ali of Sadar upazila.
Abu Zahid Fakhrul Alam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said that the accident took place around 6am as Meherpur-bound ‘Royal Paribahan’ bus from Chattagram crashed into the stationary the vehicles, leaving the six people dead on the spot and 10 people injured.
Police arrested the bus driver and seized the bus.
The injured were admitted to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, said Doctor Shamim Kabir, residential medical officer of Sadar Hospital.
On the other hand, At least seven people were killed after a bus ploughed into a CNG auto-rickshaw in Mymensingh's Muktagachha Upazila.
Police said the accident took place when a Jamalpur-bound bus of Rajib Paribahan collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the upazilas’ Mankun area around 4pm.
Four of the deceased died on spot and three others died on way to Muktagacha Upazila Health Complex.
The deceased were identified as Nur Islam, 35, his wife Taslima Akter, 32, their daughter Liza Akter, 12, Saidul Islam, 55, Najor Mia, 60, Nazrul Islam, 35, and driver Aladul Mia, 32.
All victims were the passengers of the auto-rickshaw.
Police seized the bus while its driver and his assistant managed to escape.
