13,000 KNF uniforms seized in Ctg

Police have recovered another 13,000 suspected uniforms made for the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) from the Pahartali police station area of Chattogram city.

The Bayezid Bostami police station conducted the operation on Tuesday night.

According to police sources, these clothes were prepared for the KNF, an armed organization in the hilly areas. However, no one agreed to comment officially on the matter.

A senior police officer confirmed the matter on condition of anonymity. He said, "The matter is very sensitive. We cannot say anything without the permission of the higher authorities."

A case is being prepared at the Pahartali police station in this incident. A sub-inspector (SI) of Bayezid Bostami police station will file the case as the plaintiff, the police said.

 Earlier, on May 17, the detective police had seized 20,300 uniforms from a garment factory in the same area, 'Ringvo Apparels'. The case statement filed in that incident said that these uniforms were being made for the hilly armed organization KNF under a contract worth about Tk 20 million.

Three people wuth the owner of the factory, Shahedul Islam were arrested in the incident. The other two are Golam Azam and Niaz Haider. Police claimed that they had taken an order to make clothes from Monghlasin Marma of Kaptai Upazila in Rangamati. The case was filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act. The plaintiff was Sub-Inspector (SI) of the city detective police, Iqbal Hossain.

Also, on the night of May 26, the police seized 11,785 uniforms from a warehouse in the Nayahat area of Bayezid Bostami police station.
