12 students get ‘Bijoy 71 Hall Provost’ award

Twelve students of Dhaka University (DU) have received ‘Bijoy Ekattor Hall Provost’ award for their outstanding results in BSS and MSS examinations.

Vice Chancellor of the university Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman handed over the awards to the awardees at a function held recently at the Bijoy Ekattor Hall auditorium. Provost of the hall Professor Dr AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan presided over the programme and Director General of Bangladesh Development Research Institute KAS Murshid delivered the inaugural speech.

Ershadul Haque, a Political science student received the Provost Gold Medal for outstanding results in BSS and MSS. In addition, 11 students from the hall received the Provost Award. Besides, meritorious students, and others who won in intra-hall annual sports, and literature competition events, also were awarded.

In his speech, DU VC Prof Akhtaruzzaman said, “Liberation War values (power) were secularism, humanism and moral values.”

“Dhaka University is practicing those values which were the winning strength in Liberation War in 1971,” he added. In addition to the residential teachers and students of Bijoy Ekattor hall, Principal, teachers and students of different halls were present.
