12 kg LPG costs Tk 40 less

The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been reduced by Tk3.34 per kg. 

The prices have finally come down after 8 consecutive months of increases. For April, the cost of a 12-kg cylinder is Tk 1,442 instead of Tk 1,482, a Tk 40 decrease from March.

A new price reduction was announced by the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) on Wednesday, to take effect at 6 p.m on the day.

BERC chairman Nurul Amin said that the price of 12 kg of LPG has been reduced by Tk 40 from Tk 1,482 to Tk 1,442.

Earlier on March 3, the price of a 12 kg cylinder was increased by 8 taka to 1,482 taka. Besides, on February 4, BERC increased the price of 12 kg of cylinder gas by 41 taka to 1,474 taka. On January 2, it was increased by 29 taka to 1,433 taka.

At the same time, BERC also reduced the price of autogas on Wednesday. In the month of April, 

the price of autogas at the consumer level has been fixed at Tk 66.21 per litre.

Last March, the price of autogas at the consumer level was fixed at Tk 68.5 per litre. And in February and January, determined to include VAT, at Tk 67.68 and Tk 65.67, respectively.

BERC said in a press release that Saudi Aramco's declared Saudi CP of propane and butane for April was $615 and $620 per tonne, respectively, and the average Saudi CP of propane and butane was $618.25 per metric ton for the propane and butane ratio of 35:65. Private LPG and autogas prices were adjusted at the consumer level for the month of March in US dollar terms.

Note that in 2023, the price of LPG and autogas decreased 5 times and increased 7 times.
