Twelve meritorious students of different departments of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded ‘Dhaka University Alumni in the UK Trust Fund Scholarship’ for their outstanding academic performances. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Akhtaruzzaman distributed scholarships among the students as the chief guest at a function held today February 27, 2023 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.
Treasurer of DU Professor Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed presided over the function while President of Dhaka University Alumni in the UK Dewan Gous Sultan addressed it as special guest. DU Registrar Probir Kumar Sarker conducted the program.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Akhtaruzzaman urged the Alumni of the university to come forward with their helping hands to bring the financially challenged students under the social safety network. He also called upon them to extend financial support and cooperation in promoting research activities at Dhaka University. The Vice-Chancellor stressed the need for connecting the challenged students with the main stream of development to make an inclusive society for achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The recipients of the scholarships are Gonita Rani (English), Ukyanu Marma (Statistics), Dipika Sana (Law), Roy Mew Sing Marma (Finance), Sourovi Malakar (Printing and Publication Studies), Rodela Rupkotha (Zoology), Lalachen (Pharmacy), Sohag Hossain (Geology), Fariha Zahan (Applied Chemistry & Chemical Engineering), Oishi Rani Mondol (Drawing & Painting), Sumaiya Khatun Sheema (Islamic History & Culture) and Ankita Islam (Management).
