116 snakebite patients treated in 10 days

The flood in Lakshmipur has been lingering for a long time. So, the number of snake and cases of snakebite have increased in the district. A total of 116 people have received treatment for snakebites in the district in the last 10 days until Saturday. 

According to the District Civil Surgeon Office, 16 people were admitted at Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital due to snakebite till Saturday afternoon. Among them, four people were admitted on Saturday. 

Meanwhile, 84 people received treatment at Zila Sadar Hospital, 14 in Ramganj, 11 in Kamalnagar and seven patients of snakebite received treatment at Raypur.

However, none died due to snakebite so far. The number of snakebite patients is increasing every day. Moreover, the diarrhea and pneumonia patients are increasing at the hospitals in the flood-hit areas.

Doctors said the normal movement of snakes are being obstructed due to the flood. Moreover, the snakes stay near to fishing nets to eat fish. The snakes also go to dry places as safe shelter.

Civil Surgeon Dr Ahmmad Kabir said everyone should be cautious about the matter. If any snakebite case is detected, that person should be taken to Zila Saar Hospital immediately. Moreover, the upper portions of the snakebite should be tied. However, there was no case of death was reported so far.
