114 cyclone shelters ready in Khulna

Khulna district administration has kept 114 cyclone centres ready to cope with any natural disaster in the coastal belt as a deep depression formed in the Bay of Bengal, reports BSS.

The decision was taken in an emergency preparedness meeting of the district disaster management committee held at the deputy commissioner’s (DC) conference room on Friday with DC Md Helal Hossain in the chair.

The DC Helal said 114 cyclone shelters have been kept ready to give shelter to 4.16 lakh coastal people.

Adequate relief materials including rice, 2,000 packets dry foods and Taka 2 lakh have already been sent to all UNOs.

He said 116 medical teams have been formed and around 2,500 volunteers have been deployed there.

Additional deputy commissioner (general) Ziaur Rahman, deputy civil surgeon Dr Md Saidul Islam, district relief, disaster and rehabilitation officer Azizul Haque Zoarder, among others, attended the meeting.
