Chandpur District Administration, Fisheries Department, Naval Police, Coast Guard, Chandpur Sadar Fisheries Department, Haimchar Fisheries Department, Matlab North and South Fisheries Departments have conducted 11 operations to prevent jatka fishing on Tuesday and Wednesday.
This information has been given from the monitoring cell of Chandpur District Fisheries Department till 12 noon on Wednesday.
Sources said, some 113kg of jatka (hilsa fry), 1 lakh 36 thousand meters of current net has been seized during the operations.
Its current value is Tk 26 lakh 40 thousand. The jatka fishes have been distributed among the local orphanages.
Chandpur District Fisheries Officer Md. Asadul Bari said, “Such operations will continue till April 30 as per the instructions of the district administration with the overall cooperation of naval police, task force and upazila administration to increase the production of hilsa in the country and to implement the government's Jatka eradication prevention program 2021.”
