11 more arrested over attacks on Prothom Alo, The Daily Star offices

Police have arrested 11 more individuals over 24 hours during drives across Dhaka for their alleged involvement in the attacks, vandalism, arson, and looting at the offices of Prothom Alo and The Daily Star.

With them, a total of 28 people have been arrested so far in connection with the violence. Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) media wing confirmed the development through a press release on Tuesday.  
According to DMP, the Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested nine individuals from different parts of the city, while Tejgaon police arrested two others.

The arrestees are: Abdur Rahman (30), Md Jannatul Nayeem (21), Md Faisal (24), Qari Muaz Bin Abdur Rahman (33), Jubayer Hossain (21), Md Almas Ali (29), Zulfiqar Ali Sourav (22), Niaz Mahmud (28), Mohammad Mainul Islam (22), Md Hashem (26), and Arafat Yasin (29).

DB sources said that the arrests were made following a thorough review of CCTV footage from last Thursday night, when a mob carried out attacks on the Karwan Bazar offices of the two national dailies.

"We have been conducting continuous drives to identify and apprehend those involved in the vandalism based on video evidence," a DB official said. Legal proceedings against the 11 arrestees are currently underway.
