RAB has fined 580,000 taka to 11 establishments for selling fake and expired cosmetics and baby food in the area under Kotwali police station in Chattogram.
218 liters of fake soy sauce, 511 fake Lux soaps and 2 kg of expired cosmetics were seized in the operation, the market value of which is about 2 lakh taka.
The operation was conducted in the city's Riazuddin bazar from 11 am to 4 pm on Tuesday.
Executive Magistrate of RAB Headquarters Md. Abu Hasan led the operation. BSTI Inspector Abdur Rahim was present at the time.
Senior Assistant Director of RAB-7 ARM Mozaffar Hossain said that some unscrupulous traders have been selling fake cosmetics and expired baby food in Riazuddin Bazar for a long time. Based on such confidential information, this operation was conducted.
11 establishments were fined Tk 580,000 in the operation. Among these products, 218 liters of fake soy sauce, 511 fake Lux soaps and 2 kg of expired cosmetics were seized, whose market value is about Tk 200,000.
These seized products were destroyed and the fine amount was immediately deposited in the government treasury.
