State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid has said that 10 percent quota for women in government services should be reintroduced.

He made the statement at the opening ceremony of the 11th session of the Entrepreneurship Master Class; joining the event virtually on Saturday. The master class was organized by Women and E-Commerce (WE).

The State Minister for Cultural Affairs said, “Women and E-Commerce (WE) started working in collaboration with women entrepreneurs in 2017 and today its membership has reached 1.1 million. They are producing domestic products and marketing them by themselves. Remittance inflow is increasing through the export of their goods abroad. They are also contributing to the highest reserves of the central bank”.

KM Khalid further said that women are still lagging behind in many areas.

“I do not understand why the women's quota has been abolished from the male dominated society, their quota should be reintroduced. Since you are almost 100 percent women here, you can demand the reintroduction of 10 percent quota for women”, he added.

The event was conducted by Nasima Akter Nisho and attended by women entrepreneurs from almost every district of the country.

According to the organizers, women will be able to get an idea of how to produce and market their products from this master class. They will be able to increase the production of their products as well as acquire important ideas in the field of export.

A woman entrepreneur can also learn how to deliver the product to the customer, how to proceed with patience and how to convey their own initiative to the customer from this master class.

They can learn about business plans, business strategies, and the need for legal business documents.
