To celebrate the enchanting Bengali heritage and culture, the International Affairs Sub-Committee of the Awami League organised a special event at Gulshan Society Park in the capital Friday.

From 3pm to till evening, city dwellers and many foreign nationals joined the festivities at the day-long event "100 years of Mujib-Golden Bengal Fest," which showcased the rich Bengali culture.

The fest enthralled the guests with some of the traditional elements of Bangladesh, featuring rural heritage such as snake dance, bioscope, puppet dance, native food, local handicrafts, and folk music.

"Through this special fest, we wanted our local and foreign guests to have glimpses of Bangabandhu's Bangladesh – the 'Golden Bengal' that he dreamed of," Dr Shammi Ahmed, international affairs secretary of the Awami League, told UNB.

"We have a 1000-year-old cultural heritage which we are presenting through all the enchanting festivities at the event," she added.
