Ten more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in five districts of the division on Thursday, taking the caseload to 99,798 since the pandemic began in March last year.
However, the new positive cases are showing a falling trend compared to the previous day's figure of 11, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health. Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 96,213 in the division after 18 patients were discharged from the hospitals on the same day.
The death toll reached 1,689, including 686 in Bogura, 326 in Rajshahi with 208 in its city and 175 in Natore as no new fatality was reported during the past 24 hours, Dr Talukder added.
Besides, all the positive cases of Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 23,191 were kept in isolation units of different dedicated hospitals for institutional quarantine. Of them, 19,932 have been released.
Meanwhile, 21 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 23 others were released from isolation during the same time. Of the 10 new cases, four were detected in Rajshahi city, followed by three in Pabna and one each in Natore, Bogura and Sirajganj districts.
With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 28,368 in Rajshahi including 22,923 in its city, 5,687 in Chapainawabganj, 6,460 in Naogaon, 8,438 in Natore, 4,751 in Joypurhat, 21,808 in Bogura, 11,439 in Sirajganj and 12,847 in Pabna.
A total of 1,15,193 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).
Of them, 1, 14,160 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their 14-day quarantine.
