Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained 10 people, including three Rohingyas, from a bordering village at Moheshpur upazila in Jhenaidah on Saturday night while they were trying to leave the country to enter into India illegally.

The matter was confirmed by BGB 58 battalion commander Lieutenant Colonel Shah Mohammad Azizush Shahid at a press briefing on Sunday.

He said that the BGB arrested the 10 people from Srinathpur border while they were allegedly trying to leave the country to enter into India illegally in the midnight. They had seized their private car used for carrying them, the BGB sources said.

BGB 58 battalion commander also said that they were informed that some people, including some Rohingya people, were trying to enter into India without valid documents. They tightened their security there. As they came closer to the bordering area, the BGB men had challenged them. They failed to produce any documents about their journey to India.

Then the BGB members detained the 10 people. The BGB members handed over the detainees to the police and filed a case with Moheshpur police station.
