Police have arrested ten alleged individuals for assaulting an on-duty doctor from different places of Hakimpur upazila in Dinajpur district on Friday afternoon.
The arrested are Omar Faruk and his wife Sukhi Khatun, residents of Madhya Bashudebpur village; Al Mamun of Chandipur village and convenor of Hakimpur municipal Sheccashebok Dol; Amirul Islam of Dakkhin Bashudebpur; Khokon Mondal and Shawon Hossain, both residents of Madhya Bashudebpur; Saddam Hossain, Wadud Hossain, Altab Hossain and Ahsan Habib, all residents of Chandipur village.
Acting on a tip-off, they were arrested with the assistance of Dinajpur DB police after conducting raids in various places in the upazila.
Earlier, they assaulted an on-duty doctor named Dr Moshiur Rahman. Following the incident, Dr Moshiur Rahman filed a case with Hakimpur Police Station against thirteen people.
Hakimpur Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) SM Zahangir Alam confirmed the incident and said that the arrested have been sent to jail after producing Dinajpur court.
Efforts are ongoing to arrest the other accused, added the OC.
