Members of Manikganj Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 10 persons while gambling near Sadar upazila Parishad compound area in Joyra of Manikganj town on Tuesday night.
The arrestees were identified as Md. Abdul Halim, 25, Abu Zafor Siddiki, 45, Alauddin Molla, 37, Imdadul Mondol, 35, Md. Rabbi, 23, Shahadot Mondol, 38, Taleb Sarkar, 38, Lokman Sikdar, 40, Rezaul Karim Talukder, 39 and Abdul Karim Molla, 35.
Company Commander of Manikganj CPC-3 of RAB-4 and Senior ASP Unu Mong said acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB personnel conducted a drive in the area and caught 10 gamblers red handed while they were gambling.
Two sets of playing cards, a bed-sheet and Tk 3,890 were recovered from the spot, stated the Commander. During the preliminary interrogation, the detainees admitted that they were professional gamblers and involved in various criminal activities in the area, RAB sources informed.
