Ten meritorious and financially disadvantaged students of different departments under the Faculty of Business Studies of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded ‘Dabir-Sohani-Suraiya Founda
tion Scholarship’ on Wednesday.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal distributed cheques of the scholarship among the students as Chief Guest at a function held at Professor Dr. Abdullah Farouk Multipurpose Hall of Business Studies Faculty.
Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Moyeen presided over the function while Prof. Dr. Razia Begum of DU Marketing Department, President of Dabir-Sohani-Suraiya Foundation Chowdhury Mohammad Hanif Shoaib and Vice President Md. Ataur Rahman Prodhan also spoke, among others.
DU VC Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal urged the affluent of the society, university alumni and philanthropists to come forward to help the underprivileged students. He emphasised on bringing all the underprivileged students under the scholarship coverage.
The scholarship recipients are: Md. Nur-E-Alam Siddique Saimon and Mahiul Islam (Management), Md. Mahbub Hasan (Accounting and Information Systems), Abu Bakar Siddique and Md. Shiblu Hasan (Marketing), Md. Raja Mia (Finance), Muhammad Abu Raihan (Banking and Insurance), Md. Hasan (Management Information Systems), Rahul Biswas (Tourism and Hospitality Management) and Elias Talukdar (International Business).
Earlier, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Dhaka University Business Studies Faculty and 'Dabir-Sohani-Suraiya Foundation' to provide support to the underprivileged students.
