Detective Branch of Police recovered 10 live hand bombs ( crude bombs) from beside the Upasahar Primary School polling centre of Rajshahi around on Saturday.
Members of the Bomb Disposal Unit of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police took away those hand bombs. They made those inactive by blasting at the field of nearby Satellite Town School playground around 2-00 a.m.
Police informed, in support of the 48-hour hartal and a call for the rejection of the National Parliamentary Election BNP and its front organisation leaders and members of Rajshahi City took out a torch procession at the Upashar area of the city on Friday evening. The processionists also blasted two crude bombs while crossing the road near Upasahar Primary School. Later, police arrested one BNP activist Sujon Islam Touhid from the procession.
Based on the information of arrested Sujon Islam, a DB police team recovered 10 live hand bombs kept in two plastic buckets from beside the playground of Upasahar Primary School. Ruhul Amin, Additional Deputy Commissioner of the Detective Branch of Police, Rajshahi, informed, that the bombs were kept beside the Upasahar Primary School polling Centre during the torch procession of BNP.
to thwart the elections of January 7. Two bombs were blasted by the processionists and the information about the recovered bombs was revealed by the arrested BNP worker from the BNP procession. Later, those bombs were recovered and made inactive by blasting those by the Bomb Disposal Unit Members of RMP.
