Ten leaders of the Awami League from Jaliarpur Union (No. 17) under Muksudpur upazila in Gopalganj have jointly resigned through a press conference.
On Saturday (20 December) at 5:00 pm, they organised a press conference at the grounds of South Jaliarpur Government Primary School, where all of them collectively announced their voluntary resignation.At the press conference, a written statement signed by the ten Awami League leaders was read out by Sagar Bagchi, the recently resigned Sports Affairs Secretary of Jaliarpur Union Awami League.
The leaders who announced their resignation are: Ruhul Amin Sheikh, recently resigned Senior Vice-President of the 7 No. Ward Awami League; Abhi Bagchi, recently resigned Vice-President of the 8 No. Ward Awami League; Bidyut Bagchi; Naresh Goldar, recently resigned General Secretary; Shyamal Bagchi, recently resigned Cultural Affairs Secretary; Shishir Bagchi, recently resigned member; Harichand Bagchi; Narayan Goldar; and Ranjan Gain.In the written statement, Sagar Bagchi said, “From today, Saturday 20 December, all of us are jointly announcing our voluntary resignation from all positions and activities of the Awami League, without any instigation from others. This decision will take effect immediately.”
He also stated that the decision was taken collectively after careful consideration. Local party activists, journalists, and residents were present during the press conference. However, no immediate reaction was available from the upazila or district-level Awami League leadership regarding the mass resignation.
