Local administration began distributing reliefs among 10,000 poor people in Lakshmipur as a gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during the coronavirus outbreak.
District Parshad Chairman Mohammad Shajahan inaugurated the distribution progamme on ASM Abdur Rab Government College premises at Ramgati upazila on Tuesday. As many as 2,000 people received the relief at the programme.
According to District Parshad sources, a total of 10,000 sacks of reliefs worth Tk 75 will be distributed with each packet containing eight types of goods including rice, pulse, edible oil, and baby foods.
District Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Safiuzzaman Bhuiyan, District Awami League General Secretary Advocate Nuruddin Chowdhury Nayan, and Awami League leaders Advocate Russell Mahmud Manna and Nazrul Islam Bhulu, among others, were present on the occasion.
