A Kishoreganj court on Tuesday sentenced Bacchu by hanging to death in a murder case at Tarail Upazila. The convict was identified as son of Rais Uddin of village Ratanpur under Tarail Upazila of the district.
The court awarded the death penalty and fined Tk. 1 lakh under Section 302 of the Penal Code. The other two accused Ratan Mia and Hima got acquittal from the charge of murder. The court also order that the fined money will be given to victim fathers Abdur Rashid.
Additional District & Session Judge Mohammad Abdur Rahim pronounced the verdict. As per the prosecution, the convicted person murdered Sarufa Marufa Akter (15) over a family feud on May 10, 2013. The victim's father Abdur Rashid filed a case against 5 persons with Tarail Police Station.
The case was conducted by Assistant Public Prosecutor Joggeshor Roy Chowdhury on behalf of the state and Advocate Mia Md Ferdous for accused.
