1.62 lakh saplings to be distributed in Chandpur marking Mujib Barsha

During the ‘Mujib Barsho’ 1.62 lakh saplings will be distributed in Chandpur as part of the nationwide afforestation program taken by the government in 2020.  Marking National Environment Day celebration 1 crore saplings will be distributed simultaneously in 4 hundred 82 upazilas across the country on coming June 5. 

Assistant Forest Conservator of Chandpur District Forest Conservation Office, Md. Tajul Islam said this on Thursday. According to his information, Chandpur District Forest Office is preserving these 1.62 lakh saplings. 20 thousand 3 hundred and 25 trees have been allocated for distribution in each upazila of Chandpur. 

Md. Tajul Islam said, “The trees will be distributed as per government directives in every upazila. The instructions have not reached us yet. So, we cannot say for certain what organizations will be given the trees for free and where they will be planted.”

In addition, strict laws will be enforced to create awareness among the people of the country for better environment. As part of this, three hundred brick kilns have been destroyed across the country in one month. 

The government is working to reduce the use of polythene and once time use plastic to zero in the next one year, according to the High Court's directive.
