Covid-19 in Bangladesh

1,592 new cases, 32 deaths

Bangladesh on Sunday confirmed 1,592 new cases of Covid-19 and 32 more deaths.

During the period of 24 hours till 8am, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said 3,423 patients were declared free of the novel coronavirus during the period.

With that, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases rose to 325,157, deaths 4,479 and recoveries reached 221,275.

Of the latest dead patients, 25 were men and seven were women.

Moreover, 17 of them hailed from Dhaka, four from Chattogram and Khulna, one each from Barishal and Rangpur, three each from Sylhet and two from Rajshahi.

Twenty-nine died in different hospitals while three died at home.

So far, 68.05 percent of patients recovered and 1.38 percent died.

Currently, 52,120 people are quarantined across the country – including 1,494 newly-quarantined individuals.

 The authorities placed 392 new individuals suspected of having Covid-19 into isolation. 19,634 people are staying in the insolation units of different hospitals across the country while 50,061 left.

 Bangladesh confirmed the first cases on March 8 and the first death on March 18.  So far, 16,29,312 samples have been tested in Bangladesh for finding Covid-19 cases.

 In the last 24 hours, 11,354 samples were tested in 92 labs across the country, according to the DGHS statement.
