1,500 marginal farmers in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila received fertilizer and mustard seeds free of cost. The distribution of the materials was held at Jhenaidah Sadar upazila Parishad on Tuesday morning.
Presided over by upazila Nirbahi officer in Jhenaidah Sadar SM Shahin, additional director of the department of agriculture extension (DAE) in Jashore region Zahidul Amin attended the programme as chief guest. Deputy Director (DD) of the DAE in Jhenaidah Asgar Ali, Upazila parishad chairman Abdur Rashid Advocate, Upazila agriculture officer Jahidul Karim, agriculture extension officers Junayeed Habib and Emdadul Hasan among others attended the pprogramme as special guests.

DAE additional director Zahidul Amin and other speakers said the farmers will increase the production of mustard seeds and help meet the demand of the edible oil this season.
DAE sources said as the incentives for the farmers, the government had sanctioned 20 kilograms of chemical fertilizers and one kilogram of mustard seeds among 1,500 farmers in the Rabi season to boost the production of oil seeds in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila.
