1,300 farm labourers sent to hoar dists in spl arrangement

The district police sent about 1,300 workers from Natore to different parts of the country to ensure cutting of paddy and sale of labor amid the unannounced lockdown all over the country due to corona virus spread on Wednesday.

District police arranged to send these workers from Natore’s Gurudashpur and Baraigram area to different places of the country including Sunamganj, Gazipur, Sirajganj, Natore's Chalan Beel and Halti Beel in special arrangements.

Earlier, at the Gurdaspur Pilot High School grounds in the district the body temperature of the workers were monitored and they were directed to follow the hygiene rules. Besides, hand sanitisers and masks were distributed among them at the time. Worker Zakir Mandal said his team has 50 members. 

They used go to Sunamganj from Biaghat union of Gurudaspur upazila every year at this time to harvest paddy. In the current situation in the country, all the vehicles are stopped. So they became very worried. They thank the police administration for taking such an initiative for them.

Superintendent of Police of Natore Liton Kumar Saha said the workers were not able to go to work due to the ongoing lockdown situation due to corona virus spread. The workers are being sent to work under special arrangements. These workers are being sent to different areas of the area where they are in need for paddy harvesting,. 

Care will be taken to ensure that these workers are not harmed in any way, as well as the paddy harvesting does not face loss, he added. Gurudaspur-Singra Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police Jamil Akhter, District Detective Police Officer-in-Charge of District Detective Branch of Police Anarul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Gurudashpur Police Station Mozaharul Islam and other officials of the police administration were present at the time.
