1.15-kg gold seized, 2 held at HSIA

Dhaka Customs House has seized 1.15 kilograms of gold worth about Taka 60 lakh and detained two alleged smugglers from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the capital on Thursday, reports BSS.

A preventive team of Dhaka Customs House raided in the green channel of the airport and seized the gold from the possession of Md Imtiaz and Mahroza Begum, Dhaka Customs House assistant director Md Sajjad Hossain told BSS.

Acting on a tip-off, he said, the preventive team searched Imtiaz and Mahroza, who were passengers of BG-036 flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, in the green channel at about 2 pm on Thursday and seized 1.15 kilograms of gold from their possession. Later, they were arrested on charge of gold smuggling and legal action was taken against them as per customs rules, Sajjad added.
