One Eleven was a wrong decision in the political history of the country.
The development of a country can never be ensured on a minus-formula, but rather in a positive way, by bringing everyone together for a prosperous country. Such a situation will not repeat.
And because of this minus formula, One Eleven did not achieve its objective, commented the Editor in Chief of Bangladesh Post, Sharif Shahab Uddin.
He made the comments during a discussion on One Eleven on Channeli’s regular talk show Metrocem To the Point on Wednesday.
He said that due to the stubborn and power-hungry politics of the BNP, which came to power in 2001, the distance between other political parties grew, where the people felt that they should get rid of it.
At this opportunity, the Army brought forward the people of civil society from the back where the expectations of the people would be reflected, but even there the expectations of the people were not fulfilled. Because they were trying to make excuses to stay in power. BNP created the context for One-Eleven by implementing the blueprint for unilateral elections. Then came the One-Eleven minus two formula and reforms, he added.
The responsibility of running the country goes to non-political people. The people of the country have never allowed those who are plotting to come to power by separatism to succeed. Because of this minuscule formula, the original purpose of One Eleven was not achieved. Among them, one of the demands of external forces was to restore democracy in the country instead of a military coup, he added.
Chairman of Bangladesh Kallyan Party Major General (Retd) Syed Muhammad Ibrahim (Bir Protik) said that this disaffected One Eleven emerged only when the main political parties’ differences turned into conflict. It was a pain for the people. Their purported objective may have been good but their objective of one eleven was not established due to the minus formula.
They may have thought that this formula would be the end of all conflicts.
But they forgot that there are two great heroes in politics, against whom no conspiracy can survive.
