A young man was arrested with 15 yaba tablets in Tetulia upazila of Panchagarh on Thursday (10 July) night. The accused, Javed Ali, hails from Darjipara village in Tetulia Sadar Union and is the son of Mokbul Hossain.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from Tetulia Model Police Station led by Sub-Inspector Md Asaduzzaman detained Javed Ali around 10:30pm at Tetulia Bazar. A body search led to the recovery of the yaba tablets, which were then seized as evidence.
According to police, Javed Ali had long been involved in distributing yaba and other illegal drugs among local teenagers and young adults. Based on prior intelligence, he was caught red-handed during the raid.
A case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act, and Javed Ali has been sent to jail following court proceedings. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to intensify anti-drug drives in the area.
