A delegation from the World Bank (WB) paid a courtesy visit to Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan on Tuesday.
The visit, confirmed through a press release signed by JU’s Acting Director of Public Relations Mohammad Mahiuddin, took place at the Vice-Chancellor’s office around noon.
The WB team, led by Jerome Bazzina, expressed their keen interest in learning about the university’s academic landscape and ongoing research activities. During the meeting, Professor Ahsan welcomed the delegation and briefed them on JU’s initiatives in education, innovation, and research. He also highlighted the university’s vision for future academic collaborations and development.
The delegation included Thomas Switala, Suparna Roy, Faruq Ahmed, Sabrina Tanzin, and Jannatul Naeem. From the university’s side, Pro-VC (Administration) Professor Dr Sohel Ahmed and Professor Masum Shahriar of the Pharmacy Department were also present.
After the meeting, the delegation visited the university’s Research Innovation Center. The visit provided the team an opportunity to see firsthand the various research and development activities currently underway on the campus.
The World Bank’s visit marks growing international academic interest in JU’s expanding research footprint and future collaboration possibilities. Both parties expressed hope for developing future partnerships in research, education, and institutional development.
