In a resolute address at the inauguration of a workshop on 'Vehicle Management System Software' at the University Grants Commission (UGC), Prof. Muhammed Alamgir, the UGC Chairman with Additional Duty, emphasized the imperative need for universities to combat sexual harassment and uphold safety for all students.
Prof. Alamgir underscored the university's role as a bastion of education and research, advocating for its transformation into a safe haven devoid of oppressive incidents, including sexual harassment. He lamented the prevalence of such misconduct and urged for robust actions to eradicate all forms of irregularities within university premises. Prof. Alamgir stressed the importance of fostering a sensitive and humane environment throughout Bangladesh's educational institutions.
Highlighting the ongoing automation within higher education, Prof. Alamgir envisioned a future where modern information technology fosters efficiency, transparency, and accountability. He advocated for the adoption of paperless offices and emphasized the significance of maximizing technology's potential to enhance higher education services.
Addressing the complexity of transport management, Prof. Alamgir lauded the introduction of vehicle management system software, foreseeing its ability to streamline transportation operations. However, he emphasized the necessity of evaluating the software's practicality and user benefits before its implementation within universities.
The ceremony, presided over by UGC General Services, Estate, and Engineering Department (GSEE) Director Zafar Ahmad Jahangir, also featured Secretary Ferdous Zaman as a special guest. The workshop, conducted by Assistant Engineer Ikramul Islam Opu of the GSEE Department, saw the participation of 25 officials, including directors from various UGC departments such as Public Relations and Information Rights, Finance and Accounts, and others.
