The Typhoid Vaccination Campaign 2025 was officially launched at the Ronchondi Dwi-Mukhi High School vaccination centre in Tetulia on Sunday morning.

The campaign was inaugurated by Tetulia Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Afroze Shahin Khosru, who addressed the gathering as the chief guest.

He stated that the campaign is a national initiative aimed at protecting children aged between 9 months and under 15 years from typhoid fever, a disease that has previously caused severe health complications, including disability, among children. The government is providing the vaccine free of charge, and he urged all parents to bring their children to the vaccination centres. He also warned that legal action would be taken against anyone spreading misinformation or discouraging others from taking the vaccine.

The event was chaired by acting head teacher of the school, Idris Ali. Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Syed Mahmudur Rahman shared that 2,995 children in Tetulia have already registered online for the vaccine. Those unable to attend school-based centres can receive the vaccine at local hospitals.

Panchagarh Civil Surgeon Dr Mizanur Rahman said that 362,177 children across the district will be vaccinated. So far, over 120,000 have registered. Children without birth registration will be vaccinated manually.

Local teachers, journalists, and health workers were also present at the event.
