Two friends die after fall from Melkhum Trail in Mirsarai

UNB, Chattogram: Two friends died and three others were injured after falling from the picturesque but challenging Melkhum Trail of Mirsarai in Chattogram on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Galib (22) and Ridoy (22), police and Fire Service officials confirmed.

The injured — Miraj, Rayhan and Fahim — are currently undergoing treatment at the upazila health complex.

According to Mirsarai police and the Fire Service, three friends from Feni came to visit Melkhum on Tuesday morning. Two local youths later joined them on the trail.

As the group did not return by Tuesday night, locals launched a search and eventually rescued them around 2:30pm on Wednesday.

Dr Raju Singh, the on-duty physician at Mirsarai Upazila Health Complex, said, “Three injured people wereb rought in by locals.”

Zainal Abedin Titas, senior station officer of the Baraiyarhat Fire Service and Civil Defence, said, “After being informed, we launched a rescue operation on Wednesday afternoon and recovered the bodies of Galib and Ridoy. The three injured were rescued and sent to hospital.”
