A three-day training programme titled 'Technical Knowledge Development for Women' concluded on Tuesday in Dhaka, equipping 14 women journalists from both print and electronic media with essential skills in journalism, digital safety, and ethical use of emerging technologies.

The training, held at the NGO Forum for Public Health office in Lalmatia, was organised by News Network in collaboration with The Asia Foundation and the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).

The concluding session was attended by Sarah Taylor, Visiting Mongolia Country Representative of The Asia Foundation; Mir Junayed Jamal, Team Lead of the PERI Programme; Iqbal Mahmood, Deputy Team Lead; Marium Mahzabin, Reform Coordinator; and Fardeen Rahman, Communications Coordinator.

News Network Editor Shahiduzzaman moderated the programme, while media expert Ziaur Rahman and digital expert Raihan Masud conducted interactive sessions. Topics included journalism fundamentals, ethical practices, responsible use of social media, digital safety and security, and the ethical application of artificial intelligence in journalism.

In her closing remarks, Sarah Taylor emphasised the need for greater gender inclusion in media, stating: “We recognise that the media cannot be truly inclusive if women, who make up half our society, are not equally represented, heard, or empowered in newsrooms and on the frontlines of reporting.”

The programme aimed to enhance the technical capacity of women journalists and promote gender-responsive reporting in Bangladesh’s evolving media landscape.
