A trader was hacked to death by miscreants at Daulatdia under Goalanda upazila in Rajbari district.
Police recovered his body in front of Mukti Mohila Samity office near Daulatdia brothel area around 8:30 AM on Monday.
The dead Nazrul Bepari, 32, was a resident of Iman Khan Para in Goalanda. He had been running a small shop in Daulatdia brothel area for several years.
According to police, Nazrul had previously been implicated in two cases filed at Goalanda Ghat Police Station — one related to drugs and the other to gambling. Law enforcement suspects that he was brutally hacked to death sometime during Sunday night.
Goalanda Ghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Rakibul Islam said that Nazrul sustained severe injuries from sharp weapons to his head, neck, back, arms, and legs.
“We believe he died on the spot due to the severity of the attack,” the OC said.
The body has been sent to Rajbari Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Police have launched an investigation and are conducting operations to identify and arrest those responsible.
