We express our strongest condemnation of the continued mass killings and gross violations of human rights being carried out by Israeli occupying forces in the Gaza Strip. Since Israel’s unilateral breach of the ceasefire in March, relentless military attacks have killed scores of Palestinians — the majority of them women and children — and have obstructed the entry of vital humanitarian aid, plunging Gaza into a catastrophic crisis.
Israel has launched an “extensive” ground operation across the Gaza Strip. Since dawn on Sunday alone, hospitals and medics have reported at least 140 Palestinians killed in Israeli airstrikes. According to the reports, the overall death toll stands at more than 53,339, with 121,034 wounded.
However, the Government Media Office reports a higher figure — over 61,700 dead — noting that thousands remain buried under rubble and are presumed dead. Tragically, between October 7, 2023, and January 2024, about 67,000 babies were born in Gaza. Many women who had long struggled to conceive are still seeking care in increasingly impossible conditions. These women are enduring a ‘double nightmare,’ as recent Israeli airstrikes have left pregnant mothers fearing for their lives and the lives of their unborn children, as reported by international news agencies. This is not only cruel — it is monstrous and barbaric. The scale of devastation has made this one of the deadliest strikes in decades. Widespread international protests have erupted, with demonstrators gathering at Israeli embassies across the globe to condemn the mass killings, calling them a ‘despicable crime.’
Israel’s latest operation marks its largest offensive since the ceasefire was shattered in March. The assault, which began Saturday, aimed at territorial seizure and the forced displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians. Tens of thousands of Israeli reservists have also been called up, preparing for broader operations across both northern and southern Gaza. Yet, there remains no clarity on the existence of safe zones for civilians. Targeting civilian infrastructure — including hospitals and schools — is a war crime. This aggression must stop. These crimes have crossed all limits, and we urge all nations, especially global powers, to act decisively. Immediate steps must be taken to open humanitarian corridors and deliver aid to the besieged population.
This is not only cruel — it is

Bangladesh is a peace-loving nation. Our people, who once endured the horrors of war, stand in solidarity with innocent civilians caught in this conflict — especially women, children, and the elderly, who are always the most vulnerable. Pregnant women in Gaza now face unprecedented hardships amid the devastation.
The world has recently witnessed the Russia-Ukraine war, and now, the Israeli assault on Palestine. We call upon global leaders to act urgently to stop this unfolding tragedy.
Bangladesh has consistently called for an end to the war, emphasizing that the arms race and militarization must be replaced with diplomacy and compassion. We firmly accuse Israel of committing war crimes — including attacks on hospitals — and no words can fully express our condemnation. The humanitarian catastrophe unfolding before our eyes is unparalleled. Yet, the head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees has stated that they can no longer provide aid, with facilities overwhelmed and shelter capacity exceeded in southern Gaza.
This war began after Hamas militants attacked southern Israel on October 7, 2023, triggering an escalating conflict that has taken thousands of lives. But this cannot justify indiscriminate bombing, collective punishment, or the systematic targeting of civilians.
At a time when the world is grappling with widespread crises — eroding trust, rising inequality, and climate catastrophes — Bangladesh’s call for peace must resonate louder than ever. Only through bold, determined leadership can this crisis be brought to an end.
We urge world leaders to heed Bangladesh’s call for peace and take collective action. The international community must unite — not just to stop this war, but to end human suffering, restore dignity, and build lasting peace. Global security and the future of humanity demand nothing less.
