A Dhaka court on Monday showed Salman F Rahman, the former private industry and investment affairs adviser to ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, arrested in a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order as police produced him before the court and the ACC pleaded to show him arrested in the case. He was then sent back to jail.
The ACC found evidence against Salman of embezzling Taka 1100 crore from IFIC Bank by taking loans in the name of fake companies. It filed two cases against 39 people, including Salman F Rahman, his son Shayan F Rahman, and former Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Anwaruzzaman. Salman was shown arrested in one of those cases on Monday.
Salman F Rahman was arrested from Sadarghat area in Dhaka on August 13, 2024 as he along with former Law Minister Anisul Huq was trying to flee the capital city through waterways.
