The Candidate Master of Bangladesh Sakline Mostafa Sajid became champions in the Under-14 category of the Western Asian Youth Chess Championship in Sri Lanka on Monday, following Fide Master Monon Reza Nir winning the silver medal in the Under-18 group.
Sajid, by virtue of becoming unbeaten champions in his group (Under-14), the Candidate Master Sajid earned the FIDE Master title.
According to an information from Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF), Sajid, after completing his ninth round clinched the top position with seven points, though the other competitors of the U-14 group yet to complete their last round but none of them has any scope to earn seven points.
Sajid, from the beginning was leading the points table when he needed a draw in his last round on Monday, successfully drew with his Kazakhstan’s opponent confirm the title.
Meanwhile, the general secretary of the BCF also confirmed that after becoming champions in the tournament, a candidate master wins the Fide Master title.
Candidate Master is the first title of chess, then Fide Master, International Master and finally Grand Master.
Sakline Mostafa Sajib is one of the very promising chess player of Bangladesh, he was the champions in the national junior championship and also triumphed the championship in an international rating chess tournament.
Talented teenage chess player Sajid had an invitation from the International Chess Association to have a practice for few days but due to visa complication could not avail the opportunity.
