UNB, Gazipur: The workers of a garment factory in Konabari area of Gazipur staged demonstrations in front of the factory to press-home their nine-point demand including payment of their salary within 7-10 days of a month.
Quoting witnesses, Morshed Zaman, inspector of Gazipur Industrial Police (Konabari zone) said the workers of the Quader Synthetic Fiber’s Limited took position in front of the factory in the morning without joining their work.
Later, they placed their nine-point demand.
The other demands include providing attendance bonus through medical leave, medical leaves to be passed through a doctor, adequate medicine at the medical, to provide minimum Tk 150 for night overtime bill, clear the annual leave payment by the month of January and to allow button phone for workers and stop sacking workers without issuing any notice.
Aurangajeb Khan, an officer of the administration, said the salary will be provided within 16 days of the month and the other demand will be met in phases.
