The Raozan Press Club organised a protest meeting condemning the recent attack on Ekhon Television’s Chattogram Bureau Chief Hossain Ziad and cameraman Parvez, who were assaulted by miscreants while performing their professional duties in Jungle Salimpur, Sitakunda.
The meeting was held on Monday afternoon at the club’s permanent office in Jalilnagar, Raozan upazila. It was presided over by the club’s President M. Belal Uddin and conducted by General Secretary Nezam Uddin Rana. Among others, former president Pradip Shil, vice president Habibur Rahman, former joint secretary Kamal Uddin, joint secretaries Shahadat Hossain and Amir Hamza, finance secretary Anisur Rahman, and office secretary Ratan Barua addressed the gathering.
Speakers expressed deep concern over the growing incidents of harassment and violence against journalists across the country. They said that repeated attacks on media professionals are creating a climate of fear and threatening press freedom, making it increasingly risky for journalists to perform their duties.
The meeting strongly demanded that those responsible for the attack on Hossain Ziad and Parvez be identified and brought to justice swiftly to ensure the safety and dignity of all journalists.
