Rupganj Correspondent: In observance of the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, a rally and discussion meeting were held in Rupganj, Narayanganj, organised by the Upazila Administration and the Department of Disaster Management. The event took place on Monday afternoon at the Upazila auditorium. The rally marched through several streets, beginning at the Upazila Parishad.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Saiful Islam attended as the chief guest. Other notable attendees included Disaster Management Officer Aimin Sultana, Social Services Officer Humayun Kabir, Food Officer Arif Mohammad, Fisheries Officer Alamgir Hossain, Poverty Alleviation Officer Sarwar Jahan, Cooperative Officer Alamgir Azad Bhuiyan, and Warehouse Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman, among others.
During the event, students received practical training on how to extinguish fires and administer basic first aid in case of burn injuries.
UNO Saiful Islam stated that, in honour of the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, training programmes are being conducted nationwide to strengthen disaster preparedness. Fire Service officials trained students on necessary actions during a fire emergency and how to provide immediate medical assistance to fire victims.
