Bangladeshi photographer Pinu Rahman has once again brought pride to the nation by clinching the Gold Medal in the Accent Category at the International Photographic Olympiad “PhotOlympic 2025” in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Competing against 96 top photographers from around the world, Rahman’s artistry stood out on the global stage, reinforcing his position as one of Bangladesh’s most celebrated visual storytellers.
The Olympiad, which spanned from August 18 to 23, included two intense live shooting rounds in the historic city of Saint Petersburg. The winners were announced at the “Russia—My History” Historical Park auditorium, where a grand exhibition also showcased their works. For Rahman, it was not only a victory but also a chance to represent Bangladesh in one of the most prestigious photographic platforms in the world.
On his return home, Rahman was warmly honoured at a reception hosted yesterday by His Excellency Mr Alexander Grigoryevich Khozin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bangladesh. The event was not only a celebration of his success but also an avenue to discuss future collaborations. During the meeting, Rahman shared his dream of hosting an International Photographic Olympiad in Bangladesh and sought the cooperation of the Russian Embassy. The Ambassador assured support, including the possibility of holding an exhibition of Rahman’s photographs from Moscow and Saint Petersburg at the Russian Cultural Center in Dhaka.
Adding another feather to his cap, Rahman has also been appointed as an Ambassador of the World Photography Olympiad, a role that allows him to inspire and connect photographers across borders. With more than 80 international honors to his name, his works have already been published in globally renowned media outlets such as The Guardian, The Times, Deutsche Welle, and Al Jazeera.
As Rahman continues to break new ground, his vision extends beyond personal accolades. He aims to strengthen cultural ties through photography and put Bangladesh on the world map of visual storytelling.
