A pathology lab has been launched at the Chattogram University (CU) Medical Centre on Sunday.
Now teachers, students and employees will be able to get 21 pathological tests done here at a low cost.
The lab was inaugurated at the CU Medical Centre by Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Mohammad Shamim Uddin Khan and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr: Md. Kamal Uddin.
Faculty of Science Dean Professor Dr Mohammad Al-Amin, Faculty of Biology Dean Professor Dr Md Golam Kibria, Faculty of Social Sciences Dean Professor Dr Md Enaulla Patwari, Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries Professor Dr: Md. Shahadat Hossain and Chief Medical Officer Dr: Mohammad Abu Tayyab were present at the time.
Chief guest of CU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Mohammad Shamim Uddin Khan said, ‘Those in charge of medical should ensure primary treatment of students, and if necessary, send them to the city hospital. In no way should major accidents occur due to negligence. The pathology lab was inaugurated today for the welfare of students. We have plans to convert this medical center into a full-fledged medical hospital in the future.’
CU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin said, ‘We have brought the most modern machines here. Students will be requested to ensure their proper use. The lowest limit of the government rate has been kept in determining the fees for students.’
In his welcome speech, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Abu Tayyab said, ‘The pathology lab was launched today as part of the modernization of the medical center with the sincerity of the university administration. From now on, students will get the benefits of high-quality tests at a low cost.
Services available in the pathology lab: Blood hemoglobin percentage (Hb%), complete blood count (CBC), lipid profile (cholesterol, triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein, low-density lipoprotein), serum bilirubin total, serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase (SGPT), serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP).
In addition, several modern tests can be performed, including serum creatinine, serum urea, serum uric acid, serum albumin, blood glucose (single sample), serum calcium, C-reactive protein (CRP titer), hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), Widal test, pregnancy test (device method), general urine test (urine R/E), general stool test (stool R/E), drug detection test (dope test - 5 types), and blood group and Rh factor determination test.
