In a significant move towards digital policing, Chuadanga district police inaugurated the ‘Online General Diary (GD) Service’ at Sadar Police Station on Sunday.
The initiative was officially launched by Superintendent of Police Khandaker Golam Mowla, BPM-Seba, aiming to make police services more accessible, transparent, and citizen-friendly.
Under the new system, people may now file a wide range of GDs — including reports on threats, missing persons, theft, harassment, or lost items — from anywhere, at any time, using their smartphones or computers. Earlier, only lost-item-related GDs could be filed online. This full-scale online service is expected to drastically reduce the hassle of visiting police stations physically, saving time and effort.
SP Khandaker Golam Mowla said, “This step is part of our commitment to modernize the police force and ensure that
services reach every citizen with ease. People can now file GDs, track their status and communicate with investigating officers digitally.”
To file an online GD, individuals need a National ID, an active mobile number and a photo taken via smartphone.
The police also warned that false or misleading entries will be legally addressed, urging the public to submit truthful and verifiable information.
