The Detective Branch (DB) of Moulvibazar district police arrested a man with a consignment of foreign liquor during a special anti-narcotics drive in Sreemangal upazila.
The detainee, identified as Juwel Mia, 22, was detained on Friday (4 July) from the Hoglia area. The operation was led by Sub-Inspector Md. Saiful Islam. Police recovered 20 bottles of ‘Royal Green Deluxe Blended Whisky’ from the detainee’s possession. Each bottle contained 375 ml, amounting to a total of 7.5 litres, with an estimated market value of Tk 36,000. According to the DB source, Juwel attempted to flee upon spotting the police, but was quickly captured after a brief chase. In this regard, a case has been filed under Section 36(1), Table 24(kha) of the Narcotics Control Act.
