Police arrested a man with a firearm during a raid in Bagarchar area of Rajbari on Monday.
Acting on a tip off, a team led by SI Obaidur Rahman, under the supervision of SP Md Kamrul Islam and OC Md Salauddin, conducted the operation at 3:10am. Upon reaching the road near Nur Ali Mondal’s residence, police confronted a group preparing for criminal activities. While several suspects fled, police arrested Saidul Sheikh (39), son of late Anwar Hossain of Pangsha’s Bahaldanga (Poschim Para).
A body search recovered a 20-inch one-shooter gun and a red cartridge marked ‘BB’ with partial code ‘121212*12.’
According to police sources, Saidul Sheikh is already facing four criminal cases, including arms possession and robbery preparation. A fresh case under the Arms Act is being processed.
