CCC Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain has warned that the work order will be canceled if the private institutions entrusted with the ‘door-to-door’ project under the Chittagong City Corporation do not provide services in accordance with the stipulated conditions.
He said these things at a meeting with the cleanliness department at the Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) office in Tiger Pass on Sunday.
CCC mayor said, “There have been allegations of negligence in performing duties against some institutions. If they cannot ensure service, their contracts will be canceled. If necessary, the door-to-door project will be closed and cleaning activities will be conducted as per the previous rules. If necessary, we will consider closing projects that cannot achieve public satisfaction by ensuring service. We must be vigilant so that companies work with their own workers instead of using CCC workers.”
He said, “I have received complaints of garbage lying in different areas of the city. If the sanitation workers are actively performing their duties, then there should be no garbage. In the wards where it is not possible to maintain cleanliness properly, the responsible workers will be transferred. I will inspect on the spot and take action where I see weaknesses.”
CCC mayor said to the sanitation workers, “The door to door project was launched to cooperate with you. But now it is seen that you are showing a lack of enthusiasm. You must remember that you are my main strength. It is your moral responsibility to keep the city clean. If you see garbage lying in any place, you must clean it quickly.”
Chief Sanitation Officer Commander Ikhtiar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury highlighted the issue of lack of equipment and supervision in sanitation activities. Malaria and Mosquito Control Officer Md. Sharful Islam Mahi, Deputy Chief Sanitation Officer Pranab Kumar Sharma and other officers and employees of the sanitation department were present at the time.
