The incident occurred at Samiruddin Smriti College grounds in Baliadangi Upazila around 8:30 PM on Saturday. He was reportedly attacked while trying to quell tensions over the announcement of election results at the BNP conference.

Following the incident, the army and police arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control. A BNP activist named Ujjal was injured while trying to prevent the attack on the Secretary General's brother and the vandalism of his car. He has been rescued and admitted to Baliadangi Upazila Health Complex.

Baliadangi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shaukat Ali Sarkar said that tensions had been ongoing for two hours at Samiruddin Smriti College over the announcement of results for the Upazila BNP conference. Those responsible for vote counting at the Upazila BNP conference were hesitant to announce the results.

Later, at 8:00 PM, Mirza Faisal Amin, the District BNP General Secretary arrived at the polling center from Thakurgaon. As he was leaving after announcing the results, agitated BNP activists threw chairs at him. During this time, the front and rear windshields of his car were shattered.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Palash Kumar Debnath said that the incident occurred suddenly as they were coming down from the third floor after the results were announced.

"We are trying to identify the attackers. The situation is currently normal," he added.

Rashed Ali, a former leader of the District Volunteer Dal who was in the car, said, "We somehow managed to rescue the Secretary General's younger brother. Those who were with him took the Secretary General's brother away in another car. However, due to low light at night, we could not identify the attackers."

Earlier, voting for the Baliadangi Upazila BNP conference began at 2:30 PM. Tensions arose around 5:00 PM during the counting of votes, particularly regarding two votes for the president post. Following this, BNP leaders and activists who had come from the district became besieged.
