Kings eyeing to keep winning streak

Reigning Champions Bashundhara Kings will take on mediocre Fortis FC in the 12th round of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football at Muktijuddho Smriti Stadium, Rajshahi at 3 p.m. today. 

Kings, who kept their unbeaten run in the last five matches in a row, expecting to keep up the momentum with winning the today’s match against Fortis FC.  

Oscar Bruzon’s sides earned a 5-0 victory in the first leg over Chittagong Abahani at Shaheed Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium, Munshiganj in their last encounter on January 5. 

Kings are leading the points table with 28 after 11 matches when they suffered one defeat and drew one. Fortis FC are on sixth place with 13 points.  

Fortis FC played out a 1-1 draw with Abahani Limited in their previous match at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium, Gopalganj. 

In their previous meeting in the first leg of the league, Kings just escaped with a hard fought 3-2 win at their home ground Bashundhara Kings Arena in January when after a 2-2, Rimon Hossain found the net to salvage the champions. 

Kings forwards Dorielton and Rakib Hossain scored nine and eight goals respectively to lead the scoring tally.

 Fortis FC will have to depend on Valerii Gryshyn, Sarr, and Pa Babou, if the trio could do anything extraordinary then, they would have chance to make an upset or at least to snatch a point.  

In the day’s other two matches Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC) will take on Brothers Union (BU) at 3:45 p.m. at Rafique Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium, Mymensingh while Chittagong Abahani will face Rahmatganj MFS at the same time at Shaheed Bir Sreshtho Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium, Munshiganj.

Mohammedan won their previous match against Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra at Bashundhara Kings Arena on January 6 in the first phase of the league. The Black and Whites earned 23 points from 11 matches and they are now in the second spot in the table.

Meanwhile, Brothers remained at the bottom of the table managing three points from 11 matches. The Gopibagh outfit lost their last five matches in a row. 

Chittagong Abahani and Rahmatganj both have 10 points from 11 matches. So, the two teams have a chance to move up in the points table. Chittagong Abahani won two outings while Rahmatganj managed one so far.
