KDS Textiles wins Green Factory Award

KDS Textile Mills Limited (Unit-2) located in Mohra Industrial Area of Chittagong has been awarded the prestigious Green Factory Award in recognition of its commitment to environmentally sustainable industrial practices. 

In addition, 30 industries in the country have received the Green Factory Award or Environment-Friendly Factory Award. 

The award is being given in recognition of excellence in eco-friendly practices, energy efficiency, waste management and working environment. 

This year, companies from various sectors including garments, textiles, leather, pharmaceuticals, food processing, steel, ship-breaking, ship-building have been nominated for the award. 

The list highlights the diversity of Bangladesh's industrial sector as well as the importance of fulfilling environmental responsibilities.

The Ministry of Labor and Employment has nominated 30 industries from 16 sectors for the Green Factory Award-2025 under the ‘Green Factory Award Policy-2020’.

KDS Group Managing Director and First Vice President of BGMEA Selim Rahman received the award in a formal ceremony held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Tuesday.

Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. M. Sakhawat Hossain, Adviser to the Ministry of Labor and Employment and the Ministry of Shipping, was present as the chief guest at the ceremony. 

Adilur Rahman Khan, Adviser to the Ministry of Industries and the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, was also present as a special guest.

KDS Group is one of the most famous business and industrial groups in Bangladesh, which is mainly based in the port city of Chittagong but has extensive operations in Dhaka.

 Ready-made garments (knit) sector, the awards were received by Charka Textile Limited of Pran-RFL Group of Palash in Narsingdi, Ecotex Limited of Kaliakoir in Gazipur and Fakir Fashion Limited of Rupganj in Narayanganj. In the ready-made garments (woven) sector, Tarasima Apparels Limited of Saturia in Manikganj, Eco-Tex Limited of Jirani Bazar in Gazipur, and Bhaluk Square Fashion Limited of Mymensingh received awards.

Textile (clothing) sector, Akij Textile Mills Limited of Charkandar in Manikganj, Pioneer Denim Limited of Madhabpur in Habiganj, KDS Textile Mills Limited (Unit-2) of Chandgaon in Chittagong and 4H Dyeing and Printing Limited of Patia received the Green Factory Award this time.

The only organization in the automobile sector that received the award was Pragati Industries Limited, a government organization in Sitakunda, Chittagong.
